It's been 3 years since our last cruise...we swore it wouldn't be this long...but at least it wasn't another 9 years!! Anyways, we decided to make this one a shorter and make the travel lighter...so we just headed out for a 4-day cruise to Catalina and Ensenada, Mexico. Our neighbors, the Sayers, were angels and agreed to stay at our house with the kids for the week...they spoiled them everyday with a fun day trip! It was a fabulous week for ALL of us!
Jake and I flew to California where my parents took us to a great lunch at a fresh seafood market and then dropped us off at the ship! We sailed on the Carnival Inspiration...not a "fabulous" ship (we compared it to Wendover vs. Las Vegas)...but a relaxing and fun ship nonetheless! I got right to work ordering a virgin drink...mmm so tasty, and we watched the helicopters take off from the dock!
The next day we woke up and saw Catalina Island out our window! That's such a fun part of cruising...waking up to something new each day! We also LOVE room service breakfast!
We decided to rent a golf cart and explore the island...it was a blast! We saw some great views of the ship out in the bay, watched people zipline, checked out the golf course (not great) and just explored!
We also did some shopping there...this hat was our favorite find...apparently buffalo are a big thing on Catalina...we thought that was hilarious!
That night was our dressy night and we had fun taking advantage of a sweet "date night"! The food was delicious but the show was pretty bad, we just laughed through the whole thing.
The next morning we woke-up to Ensenada, Mexico. It was overcast and cool...what to do? Rent a scooter! We didn't even consider any dangers or whether it was a smart idea...it just sounded really fun...and it WAS! Luckily, we didn't get kidnapped or anything...plus we rocked the helmets!
We stopped at a beach, drove through the shopping district, checked out the view atop a hill and stopped by some giant heads to take pictures! We only rented the thing for an hour, but we made every minute count!
The last day on board was a bit of a bummer...cold, cloudy and windy...we bundled up and drank hot cocoa. Our plan of sitting out by the pool all day didn't work out, but we just hung out and enjoyed.
The whole time we were gone the kids stayed busy too! They went to Hogle Zoo, Clark Planetarium, the dollar movie, a splash pad, swimming at the reservoir and spent a day riding the FrontRunner up to Ogden. What a spoiled bunch of kiddos!!
